The public was invited to attend a special Town Hall Meeting hosted
by the City of Dearborn's Commission on Disability Concerns, to
discuss the accessibility of city programs and services to those
living with disabilities.The Town Hall Meeting took place
on Friday, April 11, 2003 at
Dearborn's Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. The
Center is located at the corner of Michigan and Greenfield.
The commission, appointed by Mayor Michael A. Guido, represents
Dearborn's estimated 19,600 people with disabilities, including
an estimated 53% of the residents age 55 and over.
Michigan has almost 2 million people with disabilities, based
on 2000 census figures. 2,082,057 of the state's population are
55 and over, of whom an estimated 1,103,500 have some form of
disability.
